|Birchbox January 2013|
After the bit of a let down that I had from last month's box of samples from Birchbox (you can check out that post here) I was debating on whether or not to continue on with the program. But seeing as it was going to be a new year I was intrigued to see what they would bring into 2013. The theme of this month's box was "Best Year Ever."
Last night my best friend & I got together to have a mom's night out. After hours of text messaging each other about what to go out and do we finally came to a decision. We were going to go and see the new movie Hansel & Gretel.
It wasn't until last year that I finally tried any products from The Body Shop and joined in with the many that have already been raving about their products. So far my favorite would have to be there shea body butter that I use constantly. Regular lotion never worked for my skin and with living in the desert my skin is horribly dry but now that I have found my holy grail of skin moisturizers my skin hasn't felt softer. It has a fresh nutty smell which most likely comes from the main ingredient of Community Fair Trade shea butter and the rich moisture actually lasts all day. What's even better about this body butter is that my son and I suffer from eczema and I recently found out that this product actually helps sooth and get rid of it on my son. This is definitely a product that will be staying in our house.
Have you tried this body butter?
Any recommendations on any other products from The Body Shop?
Ingredients for a 13x9 pan:
3-4 chicken breasts (bite-sized)
6 servings of mashed potatoes
1 3/4 cups water
1/4 tsp salt divided
3 tbs unsalted
1 cups milk
2 cups mashed potato flakes
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
2 1/4 cup Bisquick mix
2/3 cup milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a non-stick skillet add your chicken to cook. Then in a large skillet begin the gravy by heating the oil and whisking in the flour, salt and pepper until smooth. Slowly, whisk in the milk so no clumps form and continue to cook until gravy thickens. If the gravy is too thick for your liking than you can add more milk until it is to the consistency in which you enjoy. Once the chicken is completely cooked add it to the gravy including the juices to add a bit more flavor.
Now, make your mashed potatoes by heating all ingredients but the potato flakes in a microwave safe bowl for 4 1/2 minutes. Then add in potato flakes and fluff with a fork and than spoon the mashed potatoes into the bottom of the 13x9 pan spreading it out across the bottom. Now you can pour in the country gravy and chicken mix making sure that it to is level across the potatoes. In another bowl add the Bisquick and milk and mix until a stiff dough forms. Using two spoons add dollops of biscuit mix to the top of the gravy mixture. Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes or until the biscuits are done to your liking. Serve and enjoy!
I was really impressed with myself on how well this came out and that everyone even ate some the next day. It is definitely going to become one of those dishes that is a constant in the nightly dinner rotation menu. Hope you enjoyed this recipe and if you try it please let me know because I would love to know how it comes out for you.
Do you think you would make this? Or have you made anything similar to it?
Over the holidays Bath & Body Works unveiled Forever Red* which is the newest addition to their Eau de Parfum collection. During this time I was lucky enough to receive a sample for testing courtesy of Influenster. I'm rather glad that I did because I probably never would have gone to a store to try it out because everyone spritzing and spraying always gives me such a headache.
