Honestly, I was a bit hesitant to see this movie because it is based off of a children's book that I read as a child and now I read it to my son. That last well known children's book turned to a live action movie that I watched I really didn't quite care for so I was a bit worried I might not like this one. Well, I actually did like it once it got further into the movie and my son who prefers cartoons sat and watched it without bugging me to leave until the very end.
The first twenty minutes or so I found a bit dull and was skeptical on whether or not I was going to like it but once the movie got into the very bad day portion of the movie I was laughing away. The movie covers two days in the family's life with the second day being the very bad day and the funny portion. When the movie ended I was a bit surprised because it felt like it hadn't been that long since it had started which would most likely be attributed to the fact that it isn't even an hour and a half long. While the movie covered every characters bad day and wrapped the movie up as a whole it just felt like it went by rather quickly.
It was cute, funny and separated itself from the book in my opinion. It's definitely not a movie that I would run out and watch again or buy right away when it comes out on dvd but if you are looking for something for the whole family to watch this weekend than this would be a good choice.
