St. Paddy's Little Leprechaun Day

I'm a wee bit late on this post but the kiddo and I have been fighting off a cold since we got home from this event last Saturday so I do apologize. Since this past Tuesday was St. Patrick's Day The Downtown Container Park hosted this cute even mainly for the kiddos but it was of course fun for us parents as well. They had little booths set up where kids could get glitter tattoos, their hair braided with flowers, they could make two different crafts (a rainbow chain with a pot of gold at the end which we made, or a gold chain necklace) and they even had a place set up where kids could actually paint on canvas. It was really pretty cool.

And per usual, I've shared more then a few pictures because well, that is me and how I do things :)

Finding places for Ethan and I to eat ate with both of our food allergies (he's allergic to nuts and I'm allergic to shellfish with an itchy throat issue to anything with wheat gluten) but we did find a gourmet hot dog place that was actually pretty good. Mine isn't as pretty without a bun but their choice of toppings is rather interesting. One of them is seaweed which is a tad bit of an interesting choice.

They have a new toy store in there called Kappa Toys which has all sorts of cool toys for those young and old and we both walked out with something each. He got this cool little rocket that you fill with water and then hook to a stick that you pump. Once you release the rocket it flies and pretty far too. I got a pen. Yes a pen but not an ordinary pen. I got a Doctor Who pen that has the Tardis on the top of it and yes I am babying the thing so I don't loose it. heheh

Even though we took an adventurous and long bus ride down there-and home, Ethan and I had a pretty fun time together. While we were there I ran into an old friend of mine and his family which was nicely unexpected especially since I hadn't seen them in over a year. Sometimes it's really nice to just do things the two of us. I've been feeling out of sorts lately and not as super connected to my Bubba as I was so it was great to get away and just spend some quality Momma & Son time together that wasn't just going to the jungle gym. I really want to make it a regular thing with him and do new things around town together when we can.

I have actually done a previous post on our first trip to the Downtown Container Park last year if you would like to check that post out as well.

The pictures of the flowers and down are from our walk home. You never know when or where you will find something to take pictures of. Plus I was trying to make the 45 minute walk entertaining for the both of us.

What did you do for St. Patrick's Day this year?

  1. Looks like an awesome afternoon outing! And those hot dogs... creative. As a Chicagoan, we love our dogs crazy!

    1. It definitely was a great day. I've heard that Chicago has some pretty good dogs. If I ever visit there I will have to try some.
