Disneys The Good Dinosaur Review

I was provided with 2 free VIP passes to view this movie for review purposes.
My thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

I will first warn you that if you are emotional person like myself than you might want to have some tissues on hand when you watch this. I'm a big ball of emotions naturally and no matter how I felt about The Good Dinosaur, there are parts that definitely left me with tears streaming down my face. As I left the theater I noticed that I wasn't the only one either. Emotional people unite, lol. The movie also does provide quite a few laughs which evens out the tears.

The Good Dinosaur is an absolutely beautiful movie with a multitude of colors and elements and seeing it in 3D made everything more lifelike. Pixar movies never fail when it comes to their ability in making something so simple as a flowing river or a leaf fluttering in the wind look real. The characters are more cartoon like compared to the nature surrounding them which I found made them stick out more and got me to pay more attention to them instead of the supporting background unless I was meant to.

There was one thing that I absolutely did not like about the movie for two reasons. One, because it made me cry and two because it was the same type of life altering event that happened in one of Disney's very popular movies from the 90's. It may have been the route basis for the following events that the young dinosaur Arlo found himself on but it slightly felt like a slight rip off to me. Could they have created a movie without going that route, quite possibly I think so.

Afterwards it felt as if the story line was all over the place without a defined plot and basis and that it was just thrown together with these random characters here, and random characters there and random characters everywhere. While it still does kind of feel like the movie was randomly all over the place, I believe that the basis of the movie was learning to forgive and to love even the one that you blamed and were angry at. Aside from some seriously crazy pterodactyls the movie really lacked a villain aspect unless you look at the movie from a different angle to where the movies villain would actually be self doubt and anger/hate for another being.

Was the movie anything like I thought it was going to be? No, not really but my son loved it and it was still a cute movie. I do think movie wise in itself that it is a cute movie and a good one to take the family to this Thanksgiving.
