Oh. My. Disney!!! Since I was little I have been obsessed with Disney's animated version of The Jungle Book and had some large reservations about them bringing out a live action version of the film. Would they completely redo the story line? What about the infamous songs from the film? Will the CGI look realistic or like many CGI films where you can completely tell that it is? With everything that I worried about for the film Disney completely proved me wrong on each one.
The attention to details that was paid for each and every animal and every aspect of the film aside from the young actor (Neel Sethi) that played Mowgli, was incredible. The movements of the animals, the trees and everything was so life like that you would that you could literally pet one of the animals. If I could pet and cuddle with Bagheera I would be so happy as he was so freaking adorable and has always been one of my favorites.
Two of my favorite songs from the animated film are in this film which made me very happy. I sat there in theater feeling like a little kid singing along to the songs with my son leaning up against me. It was definitely one of those moments where I felt like how my mom must have with me when I was younger. Definitely a bonding moment for the two of us as we sat there singing along.
The story line wasn't changed all too much but instead many of the parts that were short in the animated in the film were enlarged and and stretched out. I liked that they did this because to me it gave the film a deeper look into the characters and the story instead of just shortening everything. I also found that the deeper look into the story and the characters allowed me to make a better connection with these characters and their outcome in the film.
It made me laugh and it made me cry and I would definitely go and see it again. I told my son as we walked out of the theater that once it is out on dvd we are definitely going to buy it. Films can impress me and make me love them but there was something about this one that just had me. And I love how at the very beginning of the film it made me feel as if I was on a ride at Disneyland. It sounds odd but the way that they panned the camera at the very beginning in the jungle just reminded me of being on a ride at one of my favorite places on earth.
