Meet the Blogger Behind: Elegant Elements

On this weeks Meet the Blogger Behind the Blog post we are meeting Cathy Zeigler and her site Elegant Elements. She is in her 40's and is currently 4 years cancer free. Such a wonderful thing and glad to know that she is another tough fighter like many others that has survived something that nobody should endure. Take a few moments and read her interview below.

1.       What or who inspired you to create your blog?
I created our blog to accompany our business: Elegant Elements by Zeigler. We wanted good, solid information to compliment our all natural products and to educate the public about transitioning to a more "natural way of living"

2.       What is your #1 favorite thing about blogging and why?
Hitting "publish" and seeing my post go live....especially if I've worked really hard on the post or created a graphic that I think would set it off well.

3.       What main topics do you blog about?
I love to discuss exploring natural products like: herbal teas, soaps, essential oil blends, sugar scrubs, lip balms etc. I discuss the ingredients that we use and why we like them and the benefits that each have. I try to open people's minds about transitioning towards a more natural and less processed way of living.

4.       When you’re not blogging, what do you enjoy doing?
I love reading about essential oils and creating blends for healing and mood, as well as creating my own perfumes! I also love using my app Overdrive in my car to listen to library books. With an hour long commute one way, this has allowed me to rediscover literature again! Right now I'm listening to book 1: One Tuesday Morning....about the 9/11 attacks. It's a great listen!

5.       What has been your favorite place to visit and explore?
My favorite place to visit has been Nashville, TN. I went there 6 years ago and stood on the very same spot that Patsy Cline stood on in the Grand Ole Opry. Believe it or not, I'm not a country nut...but I do have select musical favorites and Nashville was just an incredible experience!

6.       Do you blog as a hobby or is it your job?
My blog is connected to an all natural products business that I share with my husband Barry.

7.       Where would you like to take your blog in 5 years?
My prayer is that I continue to grow as a blogger and become a better writer who can provide an ongoing education to the public about natural products. If this happens, then I will be able to leave my 8 to 4 job and work our business full time! Fingers crossed!!!

8.       What has been the hardest thing that you’ve encountered since you began blogging?
It's been a challenge to establish an editorial calendar and to publish on a more frequent basis.

9.       From your experience, what’s one tip that you would give to a new blogger?
Don't let fear or intimidation keep you from getting started. So many people that you know admire your ability to do things on the internet...more than what you're aware. Don't give up and keep plugging...your efforts eventually have to pay off.

10.   What are your top 3 must watch tv shows?
They sort of run the gamut, but my favorites are: Downton Abbey, Vikings and Once Upon a Time

11.   What is something about you or that you that makes you unique?
I'm a techie that LOVES TO MAKE GRAPHICS and at the same time, I love all things Victorian and feel I was born in the wrong era....weird huh ?? :)

12.   Do you have a historical or currently living icon that you look up to? Why?
I've always been infatuated with Vivien Leigh, who starred in Gone With the Wind. I always admired how she handled her manic depression. She suffered and often had embarrassing outbursts, but considering that they knew nothing about lithium at the time...she did the best with what she knew what to do. She was a consummate professional who could have done so much more had her illness not kept her from living a different sort of life.

13.   What is the one blog post that you are the most proud of hitting the publish button on?
I just posted this on Sunday to celebrate my four year anniversary of being cancer free.

14.   What is your favorite season and the one thing that you look forward to during it each year?
Hands down, it's Fall. I love going to my parents in Virginia and making apple butter with my family when we have our reunion....leafs crunching under my feet, hot chocolate and wearing cozy sweaters....I LOVE IT.

15.   Is there anything else that you would like to share about yourself, your life or your blog?
I have two items on my bucket list (that a friend of mind once called a dixie cup): I want to see Graceland (Elvis' home in Memphis) and a Kentucky Derby in person by the time I'm 50! Wish me luck! ;-)

Thank you Isabel for sharing some things about you and your blog and letting us get to know you.

You can keep up to date with Isabel by following her on: TwitterFacebookInstagram and of course her blog.

Stop by next Wednesday for another "Meet the Blogger Behind the Blog" to meet another amazing blogger.
