Meet the Blogger Behind: Sequins are the New Black

Welcome back to another Wednesday. This week we are meeting 26 year old Tess Felber from Sequins are the New Black. If you are into fashion then you should definitely check out her blog and the outfits that she shares. She's recently shared some gorgeous dresses that I absolutely love.

1.       What or who inspired you to create your blog?
I have always loved fashion, and embrace any opportunity to dress up. I was inspired to start my blog because I was often asked where I bought my outfits.  Sequins are the New Black is my creative outlet to showcase outfits I don't get to always wear in my normal day to day life.

2.       What is your #1 favorite thing about blogging and why?
#1 favorite thing about blogging is connecting with my readers. Whether it be in comments on my blog, Instagram or Facebook. It really lights up my day J

3.       What main topics do you blog about?
Fashion, lifestyle, home decor

4.       When you’re not blogging, what do you enjoy doing?
When I am not blogging I enjoy skiing, shopping {obviously}, baking, spending time with friends and family & crafting.

5.       What has been your favorite place to visit and explore?
My favorite place to visit has been Turks and Caicos, I went last March with my boyfriend and it holds special meaning because it was our first big trip together! The water is the most incredible blue color I’ve ever seen! { You’ll see what I mean here https://www.instagram.com/p/0h6vP5AzNz/?taken-by=tessfelber } If you’re a coffee lover like me, make sure you stop by the Green Bean café in Providenciales for their iced coffee- I am still thinking about it a year later J

 6.       Do you blog as a hobby or is it your job?
Right now blogging is just a hobby but my ultimate goal is to become full time!

7.       Where would you like to take your blog in 5 years?
In 5 years I will be working full time on Sequins are the New Black! The goal is to be collaborating with brands such as J.Crew, Revolve Clothing, ASOS. I also hope to have attended New York Fashion Week by then!

8.       What has been the hardest thing that you’ve encountered since you began blogging?
Learning how to use a camera has been the most difficult part! Since the main focus of my blog is the photos, I am trying to have them be as flawless as possible. My boyfriend is my photographer so we are learning together, YouTube has been a savior J

9.       From your experience, what’s one tip that you would give to a new blogger?
There are so many tips but most important I would have to say is being consistent. Blogging, especially fashion blogging is such a saturated space right now that readers need to see consistency to gain trust. It will keep them engaged and want to follow along for the long haul! Be yourself J

10.   What are your top 3 must watch tv shows?
Suits- Not your typical lawyer show, they leave you hanging in the best way
How to Get Away with Murder- Shonda Rhimes is a twisted genius!
Real Housewives {Beverly Hills or Orange County}-I skip through most of the petty drama, I enjoy watching to see their outfits and the amazing trips!

11.   What is something about you or that you that makes you unique?
Growing up, I was a dancer from 15 years. Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop- I did it all and that is what sparked my love for glitz, sequins and glitter. I was obsessed with the costumes we wore and the huge eyelashes!

12.   Do you have a historical or currently living icon that you look up to? Why?
Sophia Amoruso is a #GIRLBOSS and I love everything about her! She is the creator of Nasty Gal and wrote the book #GIRLBOSS - if you haven't read it already, go out and get it now! She taught me that I can create the life I want, go after my dreams and the best way to live is to dive into new things without being attached to results. The greatest thing I took away from Sophia is that when your goal is to gain experience, perspective and knowledge- failure is no longer an option.

13.   What is the one blog post that you are the most proud of hitting the publish button on?
I was most proud hitting the publish button on my first blog post! With my blog name Sequins are the New Black it was only right I wore silver sequin leggings J I am still obsessed with them. Starting a blog was something I had thought about for a while before actually executing so it was a big moment, I was so nervous sharing it on Facebook that night, I must have reworded my post 14 times hah! It was all worth it when I ended up having 990 views my first day!

You can find my first post here http://www.sequinsarethenewblack.com/37/

14.   What is your favorite season and the one thing that you look forward to during it each year?
Summer is hands down my favorite season! I live in Boston so we have really awful winters but the summers in New England are unbelievably gorgeous! Every year I look forward to making my rounds to all my favorite beach areas- Cape Cod, Rhode Island {where I am from and the most beautiful beachesJ}, biking on Block Island, sipping banana Pina coladas on Martha Vineyard. And of course rocking my summer wardrobe! Is it June yet!?

Thank you Tess for sharing some things about you and your blog and letting us get to know you.

You can keep up to date with Tess by following her on: TwitterFacebookInstagram and of course her blog.

Stop by next Wednesday for another "Meet the Blogger Behind the Blog" to meet another amazing blogger.
