Meet the Blogger Behind: Nurture Her Nature

Can you believe that it is the first Wednesday of August already? It's so cliche to say but time seriously does fly by but I cannot wait until Fall gets here and this heat here in Las Vegas slowly goes away. This week we get to meet Alice and her blog Nurture Her Nature which is a very family friendly blog with family topics. As a single mother myself I especially like their posts.

1.       What or who inspired you to create your blog?
My best friend. I don’t know if it was a spur of the moment thing or not but she was pretty excited about the idea. For me, sharing my life on the internet was terrifying. Now, I love sharing the real story behind being a single mom.

2.       What is your #1 favorite thing about blogging and why?
My favorite thing so far has definitely been meeting other bloggers and reading their content. At first it was really hard to find others that I really connected with but once I did it made this whole project that much more enjoyable. I’ve spoken to so many people I wouldn’t have otherwise known which is pretty cool.

3.       What main topics do you blog about?
Single parenting is our main focus but not the sad, negative stories you typically read about. We love sharing our stories of single motherhood that shed light on what it’s really like. We also share others stories, crafts and activities for kids (with a little bit of learning thrown in J) and recipes that are actually do-able.

4.       When you’re not blogging, what do you enjoy doing?
Spending time with my two girls. It’s my absolute favorite thing to do. I also enjoy running and visiting new places.

5.       What has been your favorite place to visit and explore?
The west, definitely. I lived in Colorado for a couple of years and loved visiting all of the mountain towns, the hiking, and ghost towns. It’s an amazing and beautiful place.

6.       Do you blog as a hobby or is it your job?
It’s a hobby. Wouldn’t that be great if it were a job? Maybe some day J

7.       Where would you like to take your blog in 5 years?
I’d love for it to be a place for single moms to share their stories and meet other single moms. When I became a single mom I could not find any resources on the internet that didn’t tell me that I was going to be broke, lonely, and miserable. It’s been years now and that just isn’t the case. My life has never been more fulfilling. I wish that were the message single moms heard, especially when they are just starting out.

8.       What has been the hardest thing that you’ve encountered since you began blogging?
Getting people to read it! There are so many great blogs out there. This is just our little piece of the puzzle.

9.       From your experience, what’s one tip that you would give to a new blogger?
Only do it because you love it. There was a brief period that I got sucked into the “I just want to make money from this” pit. That isn’t what it’s about.

10.   What are your top 3 must watch tv shows?
TV shows? Who has time for that! The only thing I watch on TV these days is Dinosaur Train with my girls.

11.   What is something about you or that you that makes you unique?
Everyone is unique right? Interesting that I can’t think of my thing that sets me apart….

12.   Do you have a historical or currently living icon that you look up to? Why?
Absolutely! Tina Fey. If anyone exemplifies balance and handling everything with grace, it’s her.

13.   What is the one blog post that you are the most proud of hitting the publish button on?
I try to make everything I publish something I’m proud of but, I really  enjoyed writing this piece about my daughter turning one. http://nurturehernature.com/2015/05/on-your-first-birthday/

14.   What is your favorite season and the one thing that you look forward to during it each year?
Summer! I look forward to just being outside! There is always so much going on and so much to do. Just being able to get out of the house and enjoy nature is a treat.

15.   Is there anything else that you would like to share about yourself, your life or your blog?
We share so much on our blog and love hearing from others whether it’s a guest post, interview or just and email! If you’d like, stop by and join the conversation!

Thanks,

Ali
