1st Grade Already
My kiddo just completed week #2 of 1st grade and I still cannot believe that he is old enough. People laugh at the whole time flies thing but it is totally true. It was only a year ago that he was starting kindergarten and before that he was my preschooler, toddler and baby. He's already over half as tall as I am and I am close to 5'9" so he might be one tall dude.
While I miss his tiny years I am loving watching him grow, learn and figure things out. He's 6 so it's a bumpy road here and there (he's a kid and they all make mistakes) but he's also just a kid enjoying life. The school had open house last week and I of course went to that because I like being involved in his school stuff and seeing where his classroom is, meeting his teach (the mom of a kid in his class last year) and seeing the places that he goes for specials during the week. Which is things like art, p.e. and music. So much fun and it reminded me of when I was a kid in elementary school. If I could go back an do it again I would so now I enjoy it through him.
It's interesting that his class doesn't do homework except for reading or being read to for 15 minutes a day and that's it. She wants the kids to just be kids at home, having fun and spending time with family. I like it so we can spend more time together and I am sure that as he gets into higher grades they will prepare him for the grades that have ridiculous amounts of homework. I would not do those grades over hahaha.
It still blows my mind that I'm a single mom of a first grader that does well in school and makes good choices. I can only hope that I can continue raising this awesome little dude as he progresses as he is my everything.
