Meet the Blogger Behind: Michell Pulliam

Happy Wednesday everyone! This week on my Meet the Blogger Behind the Blog series, we are meeting 48 year old blogger Michell from South Carolina. In my interview with her down below, you will get to know some things about her as well as her blog "Michell Pulliam" where she helps others get the life that they want.

1.       What or who inspired you to create your blog?
With my first blog - Prowess and Pearls, which I started in 2012 - I wanted a place where I could encourage and motivate women. My current website, Michell Pulliam, was inspired by my book writings.

2.       What is your #1 favorite thing about blogging and why?
Connecting with people. I’ve met some great friends through the blogosphere.

3.       What main topics do you blog about?
Relationships, marriage, women’s issues, and my books

4.       When you’re not blogging, what do you enjoy doing?
Spending time with my family, writing, reading, and traveling.

5.       What has been your favorite place to visit and explore?
I absolutely love museums.

6.       Do you blog as a hobby or is it your job?
My first blog was a hobby, my current website (which I started only two months ago) I want to earn money from.

7.       Where would you like to take your blog in 5 years?
Bringing in an income of five-figures or more per month and a subscription of over 1000 readers. I want it to become a platform where women can get advice and discuss issues concerning relationship, marriage, parenting, family, and women’s issues.

8.       What has been the hardest thing that you’ve encountered since you began blogging?
Getting subscribers

9.       From your experience, what’s one tip that you would give to a new blogger?
Engage, engage, engage…with your readers and with other bloggers! Always reciprocate when someone visits your blog. In order to be successful at blogging, you can’t be stingy. Build your tribe!

10.   What are your top 3 must watch tv shows?
The Middle, Blackish, and mostly anything on HGTV, Discovery, A & E, and the History channels. And any good documentary…especially on music.

11.   What is something about you or that you that makes you unique?
I wouldn’t say there’s anything in particular that makes me unique, other than the fact that I’m me and there’s not another “me” anywhere to be found. Oh, there is one fact about me. I’ve lived in twenty-three different homes and ten different cities throughout my lifetime…ikr! And I’m an ordained minister who loves to dance and who loves all types of music. ;-)

12.   Do you have a historical or currently living icon that you look up to? Why?
Phillis Wheatley. Despite being sold into slavery at the age of seven and brought to the US, she learned to read and write. She had a gift to write poetry and became the first African-American woman to publish a book (in 1773) and the first to make a living off of her writings.

13.   What is the one blog post that you are the most proud of hitting the publish button on?
“Michell’s Marriage Musings”. It was the inspiration for my first published book, “Real Talk”. { Michell’s Marriage Musings}

14.   What is your favorite season and the one thing that you look forward to during it each year?
Definitely Fall. College football baby!! Michigan Wolverines and Big 10 Football!!!

15.   Is there anything else that you would like to share about yourself, your life or your blog?
I just recently published my first book. And I absolutely adore my family, but above all I adore my God and am so grateful He gives me brand new mercies every single day!

Thank you Michell for sharing some things about you and your blog and letting us get to know you. You can keep up to date with Michell by following her on: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and of course her blog. Stop by next Wednesday for another "Meet the Blogger Behind the Blog" to meet another amazing blogger.
