Meet the Blogger Behind: Dog Slobber and Baby Giggles

It's another glorious Wednesday and our weekly Meet the Blogger Behind the Blog series post. This week we are getting to know 30 year old Elena McCormack and her blog "Dog Slobber and Baby Giggles." I love the sound of a baby giggling and I love who Elena's blog spirit animal is (found out in her interview below) because I have always enjoyed this person as well.

1.       What or who inspired you to create your blog?
My blog was originally created in 2014 when my husband, dog, son and I relocated to Dallas. I wanted a way to share our experiences with our family and friends that we left behind....and then it snowballed into what it is today!

2.       What is your #1 favorite thing about blogging and why?
I love blogging about things that hit home with people. My very first comment was from a women who made my beef stew for her family, she wrote to tell me how much everyone enjoyed it and how much it was like her grandmother's recipe. As an amateur cook who learns as she goes, that was such an amazing moment for me as a blogger.
3.       What main topics do you blog about?
Parenting issues (and a weekly Momspirational Monday Post), DIY Projects, Family Friendly Recipes

4.       When you’re not blogging, what do you enjoy doing?
Drinking coffee. Rock climbing. Drinking Coffee. Eating cupcakes. Date Nights and chasing my toddler and dog outside while drinking coffee.

5.       What has been your favorite place to visit and explore?
My favorite place will always be Wolfeboro, NH. I vacationed there every summer as a child and the memories are endless. If you go, you must get a glazed donut from The Yum Yum Shoppe. Simply, the best.

6.       Do you blog as a hobby or is it your job?
Right now this is my hobby but I have been exploring avenues on how to make a profit and I am excited to see where that takes DSBG.

7.       Where would you like to take your blog in 5 years?
I'd love to triple the readers that I have while still being able to connect with those who reach out. Ideally, if this blog could become a supplemental income for me that would be fantastic.

8.       What has been the hardest thing that you’ve encountered since you began blogging?
Finding the time!!! I have a house full of boys (husband, son and dog- I'm outnumbered) demanding my time and energy! I really struggled with this in the beginning and often would go weeks without posting anything. Now, I try and block out time in my schedule that is just for blogging and I keep a planner out at all times.

9.       From your experience, what’s one tip that you would give to a new blogger?
Use a planner! It doesn't need to be anything expensive, just simply somewhere where you can schedule your time to blog and jot down a few ideas. Oh and invest in a few hundred post it notes. It'll help you plan out when you want to do a blog post, or to jot down ideas.

10.   What are your top 3 must watch tv shows?
OMG- this is such a hard question. Ok...Downton Abbey, Scandal and Pretty Little Liars. Yes, I'm 30 and can't stop watching PLL...

11.   What is something about you or that you that makes you unique?
In the past 10 years, since moving home from college, I have moved 10 times. Is that unique? Probably not. I also can't snap my fingers.

12.   Do you have a historical or currently living icon that you look up to?
Ree Drummond. She is my blog spirit animal. Seriously, she started as just a blogger and look at her now! I simply love The Pioneer Women.

13.   What is the one blog post that you are the most proud of hitting the publish button on?
This was such a fun one to write. I shared my personal experience about joining a mom group and the chaos that ensued on the same day. I was encouraged to write this by a wonderful friend of mine who had just had a baby. When I was sharing the story with her in person, we both couldn't stop laughing and I realized this story may make other new moms laugh out loud but also give them the courage to get out there and find some mom friends. The best part was, I received several messages from moms stating exactly that! I love when a blog post can really hit home with others!

14.   What is your favorite season and the one thing that you look forward to during it each year?
Fall. I'm a New Yorker stuck in Texas and although we don't really get fall weather until December, I still love this season. The minute fall hits, I bust out my fall decor and grab a pumpkin scented candle to fill up my house. However, my absolute favorite thing about the fall is making my grandmother's Apple Cake recipe. It's such a light and airy cake and super simple to make but the minute I pull out that recipe, I am reminded of my grandmother and it's such a comforting feeling.

15.   Is there anything else that you would like to share about yourself, your life or your blog?
I love coffee, cooking, baking, cupcakes, active wear, bubble baths, laughing until my stomach hurts, chasing my toddler and rock climbing. Come check out Dog Slobber and Baby Giggles! Our life over there is chaos mixed with a whole lot of humor, recipes, DIY and Momspiration!

Thank you Elena for sharing some things about you and your blog and letting us get to know you. You can keep up to date with Elena by following her on: Instagram, Facebook and of course her blog.

Stop by next Wednesday for another "Meet the Blogger Behind the Blog" to meet another amazing blogger.
